Movies and Stuff

I loved I *heart* huckabees! The whole movie was great but Mark Wahlberg's character especially cracked me up. The part where he rides his bike to the fire... hahaha! So funny. I think I might have to buy this movie. I kinda wanna watch it again before I send it back.

Is it just me or do you think the catholics are loving all this attention? I mean, why else would you pick a 78 year old dude to be the new pope. So you can do all this again in 5 years and get more attention. That's why. Yeah, I don't know... I can't wait til next week when the media picks a new story I'm supposed to care so much about but don't.

Oh and AOL/Discovery channel? You're list of the 100 greatest americans is seriously lacking imagination. Tom Cruise? Brett Favre? Michael Jackson? Laura Bush? Dr. F'in Phil? Did you run out of people after 40 or are you just trying to court controversy? Wait, I already know the answer to that. And why so many celebrities? Look, no one loves Madonna more than moi but come. on. There have to be 100 other people who've contributed more to America than her. And Donald Trump ain't one of them. I wonder how they came up with this list... Sage thinks that they asked AOL subscribers, which would explain some of the more ridiculous additions. I bet they had to go through the list and add real historical figures that nobody named. Gah. Excuse me while I go smash my head into a wall...

Yo!

Ah, Monday... the first day of the rest of the week. I have a little bit of energy today due to a little walk & some coffee. But I expect to crash around 3:00 like I normally do. Even with the extra energy I still can't seem to do anything right today. I am so ready for my vacation next week. And with Earth Day on Friday, this week is only 4 days long. Woohoo!

I had a good weekend. Friday I hung out with myself... I got dinner at the mall (for some reason the chinese place @ the mall sells bourbon chicken and it's so good), went to Borders where I ran into my cousin Susie and then I went to the movies. I saw Melinda and Melinda, Woody Allen's new movie, which was very good.

On Saturday, I slept in (until 3:00!). Then I talked to Deza and made some plans to go see her next week. (Yea! Road trip!) Saturday night I made myself some fusilli pasta (remember fusilli jerry? heh) and watched Spanglish. That movie was lacking something... like a good ending. I hate when I'm enjoying a movie and it all goes wrong at the very end. Also, I finished reading one book and started working on another. April is going to be a good book month what with vacation and all.

Anywho - yeah, weekend was nice but now it's Monday. And I have work to do...

DOMINO

I just became a charter subscriber to DOMINO, the new home shopping magazine from the publishers of Lucky. I love Lucky and am not sure why I don't also have a subscription to it. But Domino looks like it'll be 10x awesomer. Because it's all about home design which is something I might love more than fashion. Or equally as much anyway. Hee... I can't wait to get the first issue as I'm sure it'll give me a million zillion new ideas for my apartment. I already saw a great idea for my living room in the sneak preview...

Sleepy Me

You know what I find I need every Monday around 3:00? A fucking nap. Blah, I know why "they" say you should go to bed & wake up the same time everyday (including weekends) but I still think "they" are losers. I have a life. Even if that life only includes me reading & watching movies alone until 3am on the weekends.

Anyway... I bought a "new" couch this weekend (it's new to me). Finally. It's pretty comfortable but also a little allergy inducing. A little vacuuming/febreze should take care of that though. Oh, and it's huge. It seems to be a sectional missing it's corner piece which pushed together makes an 8 foot long couch. I wonder what happened to the corner piece. Tonight I have to rearrange the living room and figure out where to put everything. That's always fun.

Band of Brothers is on again this week and I'm frantically trying to clear my Replay to fit them. I'm not sure it'll all fit though. I might have to back some stuff up to my VCR but that would require me to use my VCR and who remembers how to do that.

Did I mention I need a nap?

The Circle of Life

Well, it's official... LOST actually killed off a character and left him dead. Poor Boone, it was sadder than I thought it would be. I'm wondering if he was just reincarnated right into Claire's baby... I guess we'll know the minute Shannon holds the baby. If it's Boone 2, he'll go right for her boobs. Ha! Sorry. Anywho - overall it was a really good episode, I liked the Jin & Charlie interactions. And I can't quite decide how I feel about Jack... some episodes he's great and others he's just annoying. He's certainly more tolerable than some other characters though.

Of course, with the season finale not until mid-May... Wednesdays will be LOST free for the next couple of weeks again. It'll be a long couple of weeks and, I suspect, an even longer summer. Good thing I will have the entire 1st season on my Replay TV. I can get my LOST fix anytime. Of course, first I need to delete some old stuff to make room for the last 3 episodes. Sorry Ally McBeal.

Pity the Press Rep

Yeah, so everyone and their mother knows that Brit-Brit & K-Fed are not going to last. But imagine you're employed by those two crazy kids and you have to give statements like this to the press (via Page Six):
A representative for Spears said: "Britney and Kevin were at the hotel to celebrate [sister] Jamie Lynn's birthday. An emergency meeting was called, but only because Britney was afraid her dog, Bit Bit, was pregnant by [brother] Brian's dog, Porkchop — and that would be incest. As for Britney and Kevin, they are still together, happy and gearing up to do press on the new show. There will be a magazine cover involved."
I think I'd be seriously reconsidering my career the moment I had to mutter anything about doggie incest. Meanwhile, this is going to be the best reality show ever.

Prince Rainier

When I get interested in a subject, I'll literally ingest all the media I can about it. And when I was a teenager, I bacame obsessed with Grace Kelly after finding a book about her at the library. So, I watched all her movies & every TV special I could find about her and I read a few books. And since the last half of her life was lived as HSH Princess Grace of Monaco, I learned a lot about Prince Rainier, too. And I always got the impression that Prince Rainier was a good guy. He just had the look of a guy who couldn't possibly be anything but nice... didn't he? He seemed to really love his children (and if you know anything about them...) and his country. And no matter what the state of his marriage was at the time Princess Grace died, there's no doubt that he was devastated by her death and that he loved her very much. Anyway, I feel sad for Monaco today...

You're All Doooomed!

It's been quite a few years since there was a huge TV mystery that's gotten as much attention as the LOST death. So, who's going to die? It sure looks like Boone but nothing is ever sure on LOST - except that they'll introduce 500 new mysteries per episode. I love reading other people's opins on who they think will die and why. It's like they're trying to logic out the FICTIONAL show.

People, it's fiction... created in somebody else's imagination. Or 10 other imaginations as is customary on a TV show. Plus, trying to logic out a J.J. Abrams show will likely give you an aneurysm. Didn't you ever watch Felicity people? There was nothing logical about that whole fucking time travel storyline. Or, really, anything about that whole damn show.

But still, it looks kinda fun so here's some of my own logic...

There's no way LOST is going to kill off Charlie. Again. He already died once this season and besides it wouldn't make sense. They just found all that heroin on Obi-Locke Kenobi's vision plane... who do you think going to ingest it all? The other heroin addict on Craphole Island? I mean... duh.

Test Pattern: Is Boone doomed?

Mild Monday

I was in complete denial that it was Monday this morning... but it is and now it's moving along. I was suppose to have a CE class tonight at UA but it was canceled due to low enrollment. That's the 2nd class I signed up for this year that was canceled. I'll try again in summer.

I watched Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle on Friday night and may I say... fucking. hilarious. I can't decide whether it'll hold up to a second viewing but I'm willing to bet it does. I'll test that theory very soon.

I'm trying to figure out how to get to Friday without spending any money... I (over) spent quite a bit in March and really have to watch out in April. Especially with a potential road-trip coming up. Of course, I've already spent $100 in my head after going to the bookstore on Saturday. Not that I need to add any more books to my current reading list. But I'm sure I'll justify that I need a fresh book or two for my vacation.

More Mitch Hedberg

I've found some great Mitch Hedberg material on other sites today and thought I'd share some of my favorites. Also, Comedy Central is showing his episode of Comedy Central Presents tonight at 9pm:
"I was at this casino minding my own business and this guy came up to me and said your gonna have to move you're blocking a fire exit. As if there were a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you are flammable and have legs you are never blocking a fire exit."

"I type 101 words a minute. But it's in my own language."

"Has anyone seen me on Lettermen? 2 billion people watch that show and I don't know where they are. You might have seen this next comedian on the Late Show, but I think more people have seen me at the store."

"The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how much I play, I'll never be as good a a wall. I played a wall once. They're relentless."

"I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later."

Evil Rebates

I just realized that I forget to send in the previously-mentioned rebate for LOTR: The Return of the King. Which, of course, had to be postmarked yesterday... Dammit Janet! They totally know you're gonna forget or not even bother and that's what makes them evil! That makes me 3 for 3 in not getting the LOTR rebates. At least there aren't any more of those movies to buy... until they make The Hobbit that is. They should really get on that.
