Crestline California Real Estate

Are you looking to buy yourself a vacation (or permanent) home in Crestline, California? It just so happens that my Dad's house* is for sale there and it's all gorgeous & tricked out. Here's a picture:

I'm a little sad he's selling it because it's so freaking cool. I hope I can make it out there one more time before he moves. Heh, the last time I was there I got locked out of the part of the house I was staying in. And it was dark and cold and the door was two flights of scary stairs** up. So, I had to run back down and try to get my dad to hear me knock on the door (he was listening to opera) but he didn't. And so I went back up and tried all the doors again but they were still locked so I ran back down and knocked on the door again. And I pretty much thought I was gonna die out there. But then I knocked loud enough to annoy the dogs who started barking and then Dad noticed me and let me in upstairs. Ah... good times. But let's get back to the house.

It's approximately 3664 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. There are 2 full kitchens, a living room, family room, den and laundry room. There are multiple decks, a garage, a carport, and a snazzy landscaped yard. And the views up there... breathtaking!

But my most favorite part? The third floor. It's where I always crash when I visit... it's just a huge open space with 3 sleeping lofts. The bathroom has a washer & dryer and I think one of the kitchens is up there, too. Or maybe that's on the second floor... I remember a kitchen last time I was there... maybe I got the 2nd & 3rd floors last time I was there... hmmmm... yeah, I think the kitchen is on the 2nd floor. Anywho, the 3rd floor still rocks. If I owned the house, I'd just live up there and rent out the rest. It's awesome to just chill on one of the upper decks and stare at the stars. Yeah... I'm gonna miss that house. Now go buy it.

*Hey, I figured that Sage plugged his mom's house on his blog so why not?
**There nothing wrong with the stairs themselves. I just have a weird fear of backless stairs. Especially if there's heights involved.

Truman Capote Movie

I have to say, even though the new Truman Capote biopic looks good and I'm sure that Philip Seymour Hoffman does an outstanding job as Capote... I'm still disappointed that they didn't cast David Hyde Pierce. He's a dead ringer for Capote & talented actor to boot, seems like he'd be a natural choice. But hey, maybe he wasn't available or didn't want the part or something... who knows. Either way, I'm pretty interested in seeing the movie, Truman Capote is one of my favorite authors. The film covers the time period when Capote was writing his "nonfiction novel," In Cold Blood. Which I highly recommend. The movie opens September 30 in L.A. & NYC... so I imagine it will hit the Cedar Lee by late October.

Goodbye Miss Ellie

I hate to say it, but when my mom told me that Miss Ellie had died I was kinda shocked... because I thought she'd died a few years ago. I also would have thought she was much older than 82 but only because she was "so old" when I was a kid. Hey, that would mean that Miss Ellie had JR when she was 8... ew. So, she wasn't dead but now she is and it's sad cause Dallas was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. And I always liked Miss Ellie... except when Donna Reed played her, she sucked. I loved it best when Miss Ellie would lose her temper and yell at JR. I'm interested in seeing some of her younger roles.

And what is it with lung cancer this week? First Peter Jennings dies (which made me cry.... 5 times), then Dana Reeve announces she's got it (how sad is that?)... and now Miss Ellie. Stupid lung cancer...

Winter Movies

So, I can't say this would be my choice for my Christmas Day movie (I usually see Oscar-ish movies on Christmas) but it looks like the perfect movie to break the winter movie blues. Somehow, even though I seriously dislike Kevin Costner, I almost always enjoy his movies... even the bad ones... like that one where he dies on the boat... with Robin Wright Penn... she's not on the boat but she's in the movie... uh... Message in a Bottle? Sounds right. Anyway, I liked that movie. Shut up.
