Project Runway Countdown

There's a lot of press about Project Runway 2 around lately. Elle has a few pages devoted to it in their December issue (with Joss Stone on the cover). Included are updates about Jay, Austin and Kevin. And a couple of ads for the show with Hoidi holding paper cut-outs of the 16 (up from 12) new designers... including the very annoying Daniel from Season 1, Episode 1. Boo. Joe & I both hope he gets cut the first episode again... in fact, they should bring him back every season and cut him the first episode. Heh.

Anyway, I'm getting ready for Season 2 by reading the TWOP recaps of Season 1 and also re-reading Tim's Take on the Bravo website. In case you don't know, Tim Gunn is the most awesome member of the Project Runway team (followed closely by Michael Kors). Here's a sampling of his wit (from season 1, episode 5):
But, Wendy, can you give the asymmetry a rest? Alexandra handles asymmetry masterfully — and thoughtfully. With Wendy, it becomes a serious distraction. I looked at the dress on the runway and thought, "This dress would look so much more appropriate if Joy had scoliosis."
As for the countdown... only 21 more days.

Wish List: DVD Special Edition

Oh, DVD's... I can never get enough of you.

I've been waiting for them to re-release The Muppet Movie & The Great Muppet Caper for a couple of years and finally they'll be out on November 29th. Kermit's 50th Anniversary Editions no less. Wow... Kermit is getting old... how come Big Bird's still only 5 years old? Speaking of Jim Henson's genius, I have also been eyeing Fraggle Rock: Complete First Season and The Muppet Show: Season One. The original pilot of The Muppet Show was called "Sex & Violence!"? Awesome.

Other movies I waited years for but haven't bought yet: The Turning Point - awesome ballet movie with Anne Bancroft & Shirley MacLaine and Two for the Road - one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies.

Other TV shows I want on DVD... Seinfeld: Season 4, Season 5 & Season 6 and Lost: The Complete First Season.

Some other DVD's I want... Unzipped - Isaac Mizrahi documentary... if they ever release The Isaac Mizrahi Show on DVD that would be super cool. I Heart Huckabees - this movie rocks big time. Melinda & Melinda - very good Woody Allen movie... the only time I haven't cursed at the very site of Chloe Sevigny. Empire of the Sun - I love this movie... one of my favorite Spielberg movies. Band of Brothers - I can't even say enough good things about this mini-series brought to you by Spanks (Spielberg & Hanks).

My Wes Anderson collection is really sad considering how much I enjoy all of his movies. Here are the ones I don't own: Bottle Rocket, Rushmore & The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. And yes, I know that's every movie he's ever made except The Royal Tenenbaums.

Whoa! That's a lot of DVD's...

Bush: Critics try to rewrite Iraq war history

With all the information that's been coming to light lately about some of the things his administration has been up to, he still doesn't get it. He still thinks it's a good idea to walk & talk with that GIGANTIC chip on his shoulder... isn't his approval rating like 5% (ok, 39%)? Sometimes, I really don't have faith that our country is going to make it through his 2nd administration.

Big Ol' Wish List 2005

The only thing left to hint for are gift cards...

Target
Amazon
Anthropologie
Kaufmann's

And the previously mentioned... Sephora, Beauty First & Aveda.

And for future studio supplies... JoAnn Fabrics, Dick Blick, Pat Catan's, Michaels, & Utrecht are all good.

And really, a gift card from pretty much any store/restaurant is always fun. In fact pretty much any gift is always fun... but hanging out with me is the best gift of all. Hee.

And the very last thing I'd like is a yummy & gorgeous cake from the super cool bakery. Marble w/a chocolate fudgey middle would rock.

Since I really didn't think this wish list thing through and the posts are sort of scattered through the last few weeks, I thought I'd use this post to link to all my previous wish list posts:

Wish List: Home Spa

I was thinking about instituting a little weekly spa-ness into my life. Maybe Sunday Night Spa or Saturday Morning Spa. Spend 2 hours or so just treating myself well. Here are a couple of things that would go with that theme:

The Massage Deck - this will go well with my Yoga Deck. And this book, The Healing Energy of Your Hands, looks interesting to me, too.

Hmmm... there are lots of products I love but gift cards might be easier for stuff like that... I get almost all of my stuff at Beauty First, Aveda & Sephora.

I'm also looking for an inflatable bath pillow that isn't shaped like a f'in shell... so that would be cool, too.

Thrift Finds: Wedges & Peeps

I love shoes... especially cheap cute shoes. And Goodwill helped me out on Saturday. I got these cute wedge slides:

And these cute peep-toe strappy wedge heels:

Both are super comfy. And I got a pair of Steve Madden stretchy slides... also very comfy. And the grand total for all of this? $9.00!

Wish List: Musical Interlude

I don't have a lot of CD's on my wish list... but here they are:

Counting Down the Days by Natalie Imbruglia
In Between Dreams by Jack Johnson
Emoh by Lou Barlow
Greatest Hits 1990-1999: Tribute Work in Progress by The Black Crowes
The Anthology by The McGuire Sisters
Garden State (Soundtrack) by Various Artists
Nirvana by Nirvana

I'd also like this old-school CD player...

Sony PSLX250H Turntable

I Want: A Time Machine

So I can go back in time and move my mom's car before that f'in tree fell on it...

Wish List: Light Reading

There's always lots of books on my wish list but I did manage to shorten the list a bit... here are some highlights:

D.V. by Diana Vreeland

I love David Sedaris. I've read Holidays on Ice & Me Talk Pretty Some Day... so that leaves Naked & Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.

Then there's Other Voices, Other Roomsby Truman Capote, Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph J. Ellis, The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green by Joshua Braff, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, and Chronicles : Volume One by Bob Dylan.

Some of my favorite books are from the Popular Culture and Philosophy series so I'd love Star Wars and Philosophy by Kevin S. Decker. Keeping in line with that series and another favorite of mine, What Would Buffy Do?, I'd also like to read The Dharma of Star Wars by Matthew Bortolin.

Maybe more later...

Amazon Wish List Highlights

Only 10 more shopping days until my birthday and I'm behind on my gift hints. So I thought I'd highlight some stuff on my extensive Amazon.com wish list. Ready?

Domestic Goddess... there are lots of books & tools that would make you think I never left the kitchen. More like I'm never in the kitchen and that's lame. First there are the cookbooks: I love my Donna Hay Flavors cookbook so I'd love more of her books - Off the Shelf, New Food Fast & Modern Classics (Book 1). Other cookbooks I'd like are Sushi: American Style, Cheesecake Extraordinaire, Everyday Italian, and Jamie's Kitchen. And I'd like to become a cupcake specialist so here are some books that may help: Cupcakes Year-Round, The Artful Cupcake & Cupcakes.

Also here are a couple kitchen tools I'd love: I never know how long to boil an egg and I hear this is awesome - Norpro Egg Rite Egg Timer. And one of these: OXO Good Grips Pastry Scraper, a regular size muffin (cupcake) pan & this Large Cake Decorating Set.

All this linking takes awhile (while your also having a conversation & watching TV anyway) so I'll continue with this later this weekend.

They Were Nice

Just bought and devoured the December Vanity Fair cover story on Kate Moss (which I'd link to but it isn't online yet). Survey says: I think it was a fair article... it dispelled a lot of the recent rumors. The big question was "Can she come back?" and I think they came to basically the same conclusion I did... she'll be back. I've been doing a little "Kate Moss Count" in all my magazines since the scandal broke and I've yet to see a decrease in Kate images - ads or otherwise. I do suspect that some of the ads will disappear after the December issues. But we'll see...

Loving: The New Bunny

Roberto Cavalli has redesigned the classic Playboy bunny outfit for the next generation of Playboy Clubs. The NYT seems to think it's "racier" but I don't remember it being so demure to begin with. It's "racier" because it's all black? Maybe but whatever... I like it.

But not quite as much as the original...

I don't think many people would complain if bunny retro served their drinks instead of bunny modern. Do you?

Inspired By: Japanese Craft Books

Log this under "if I had a million dollars"... I'd buy every Japanese craft book I could find. Here's a whole blog dedicated to them, Crafting Japanese, that I often go to (to dream of owning some of my own). There are hundreds of them for sale on Ebay... here are a few I'm watching:

Project Runway 2

So much Project Runway news... Season 1 will be released on DVD on November 29. Meanwhile, Television Without Pity has added Project Runway to it's recap lineup. Awesome. They previously recapped the postal uniform episode for charity. And then the BIG BIG news, Season 2 starts December 7. I think... there's nothing up yet on Bravo's website but there was a commercial the other day... I hear.

Super sweet.

Christmas Movie Potential: Match Point

New Woody Allen movie comes out on Christmas and it's looks good. It's a drama/thriller... which is surprising. Anywho - it's on my shortlist of Xmas Day movies.

Apple :: Match Point :: Trailer

The Way to My Heart...

is through Kate Moss. At least if you're a magazine who will still put her on the cover these days (like the November issue of W). Vanity Fair is one of my favorite magazines but they lost my subscription (well, my subscription renewal) w/that Paris Hilton cover a couple months ago. Now they just might get me back in December:

But only if they're nice.
